Description: Non-profit community development organization. Develop and oversee initiatives to make Bedford Stuyvesant a healthier, more sustainable neighborhood while also integrating energy conservation as a core value across programming. Manage special initiatives designed to increase energy conservation throughout Central Brooklyn. Work with other CBOs to manage and implement Retrofit Bed Stuy: block by block. Collaborate with a property management team to transform our location into a showcase for sustainable initiatives such as recycling, and reducing energy and water usage . Coordinate with internal programs (workforce, social services, housing, commercial revitalization, business development, weatherization assistance) to facilitate implementation of environmental initiatives. Work with external consultants to develop strategic and business plan for expansion and fee-for-service businesses. Explore, prioritize and develop new environmental initiatives (such as community education, job training initiatives, community gardens). Develop mechanisms to research and track neighborhood-level environmental issues and impacts (health, energy savings/costs, pollution). Develop and oversee external affairs and communications strategy for environmental initiatives. Remain current on best practices in the field - policy, program and resources related to environmental issues. Represent organization at policy forums and ensure representation in key environmental meetings/coalitions. Seek private and government sources to support and grow initiatives.

Requirements: Master’s degree; or Bachelor’s (if the candidate has 7+ years of relevant experience). At least 3-5 years of proven experience in energy conservation, weatherization or related field. Strong writing, analytical, interpersonal and communications skills. Must be organized, responsible, detail oriented and have the ability to work effectively under pressure in both a team setting and individually. Must be able to manage multiple projects and trouble-shoot problems quickly. Knowledge of case management database systems preferred. Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups and/or with government contracts.
